Gwyneth Paltrow and Scarlett Johansson or Natalie Portman and Jaimie Alexander?
Don Copy From This Blog...
Scarlett Johansson |
The Iron Man films have given us two major female characters. Gwyneth Paltrow plays Pepper Pots, Tony Stark's colleague and love interest, whilst Scarlett Johansson plays SHIELD super spy Black Widow. I initially loved Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper in Iron Man. She played the role energetic, fun and most importantly fresh. Paltrow managed to overcome the superhero movie cliché of being a damsel in distress, and emerge strong, confident and appealing. Most importantly though, she had fantastic chemistry with co-star Robert Downey Jr. The constant tease of would they wouldn't they with their relationship kept the audiences engaged, whilst providing some great comedy moments. He performance as Pepper fell a bit short in Iron Man 2 as some of the on screen chemistry with Downey Jr was lost, whilst her role as C.E.O of Stark Industries was never really convincing.
Scarlett Johansson's character the Black Widow is left in something of a wilderness. I can't help but think there's more to come from her character as so far apart from one pretty cool fight scene, the Black Widow has been poorly handled on screen. It's a shame considering how good the actual character is. We need to see more espionage, spy tactics and Russian accent for Widow to truly flourish on screen.
Thor has hammered down to cinemas this month, earning some great reviews in the process. Part of that is down to the film having such a talented ensemble of cast. Despite having slightly limited screen time, I have to say Natalie Portman was fantastic as Thor's mortal love interest Jane Foster. Again, throwing away the cliché of being a damsel in distress, Portman embraces Thor's Asgardian heritage with welcome arms. Unlike Pepper from Iron Man 1/2, she rides along with Thor's journey and is totally smitten with him. It's fun to see a female character who actually enjoys that her man is a superhero for once. She's lovely.
Jaimie Alexander as Asgard warrior Sif suffers from the same problem Scarlett Johansson had. Whilst Alexander really does look the part of Sif, both in beauty and in stature, she suffers from poor character development on screen. The film continuously hints at Sif having a lusting interest in Thor, but that's not given any development throughout the film. You think someone who's known and loved Thor for years would have a bit of a problem with him going off to Earth for a few days and wooing a mortal. Sif does best the Black Widow in action though, as Sif demonstrates exactly why she's Asgard's leading female warrior by almost taking down the Destroyer armour in the film. Beats taking down a few security guards any day.
It's a tough call but I think I have to give the Iron Man franchise credit for having the best success success with female characters. Despite loosing some of her charisma in Iron Man 2, Gwyneth Paltrow has been a revolutionary female character in superhero movies. She's headstrong, she's got great chemistry with Tony Stark, and she's also very good looking. Scarlett Johansson is beautiful, but she needs to be more than that in the Avengers movie. The same goes for Jaimie Alexander in Thor, who also needs more character development. When it comes to Natalie Portman however, I hope she is in the Avengers because she's lovely and awesome.

The ring's center stone is a 6-carat emerald-cut diamond set in platinum, which probably set Brad Pitt back around $250,000 at the register.

Oscar Predictions 2012
Don Copy From This Blog...
The tidal wave of awards shows looms on the horizon as The Academy schedules its annual Oscar nominations ceremony for tomorrow morning. The 84th Academy Awards is expected to be the first ceremony in recent memory to shake up the golden “Best Picture” category, changing the nomination allocation to an unspecified number depending on the breakdown of votes. Industry speculators have estimated that there could be as many as 10 nominees duking it out for the statuette this year, inevitably upping the ante on the competition.
But for now, it’s all about which actors will be shining tomorrow morning, and which may be left crying. While there remains plenty of possibility for upset nominations and major snubs, we’ve narrowed down which films and actors we think will be recognized in the “big three” categories when the sun rises on Hollywood tomorrow morning.
BEST PICTURE
• The Help
• Moneyball
• The Descendants
• Bridesmaids
• Drive
• The Artist
• Hugo
• Midnight in Paris
Critically acclaimed films The Descendants, Hugo, and The Artist look to be all but shoe-ins for nominations this year, with The Artist already boasting a Golden Globe under its belt and The Descendants benefitting greatly from the presence of the hunky Hollywood icon and acting connoisseur George Clooney. Meanwhile, the Web is abuzz over the box office smash Bridesmaids stepping forward from the rear with a nomination of its own, and the potentially more surprising possibility of Drive nabbing a nomination, primarily “driven” by Ryan Gosling’s strong performance in the film. The category may also see a shake-up with a surge of support for Woody Allen’s alluring romance flick Midnight in Paris, widely regarded as Allen’s most significant film in years.
BEST ACTOR
• Brad Pitt (Moneyball)
• George Clooney (The Descendants)
• Leonardo DiCaprio (J. Edgar)
• Ryan Gosling (Drive)
• Jean Dujardin (The Artist)
This year’s “Best Actor” category is expected to be loaded with glamour, featuring the likes of hot-shots and long-time pals George Clooney and Brad Pitt, in addition to the ever-present but ever-losing Leo DiCaprio, who was last seen in the category in 2006 with his nomination for Blood Diamond. Gosling also stands a fighting chance after further surfacing on the mainstream in the past year and once again winning over critics with his atypical but impressive tough-guy acting in Drive. Unknown French contender Jean Dujardin looks to be the candidate stuck in the peripheral, vying for the top spot amongst a host of Hollywood regulars.
BEST ACTRESS
• Meryl Streep (The Iron Lady)
• Michelle Williams (My Week With Marilyn)
• Viola Davis (The Help)
• Rooney Mara (The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo)
• Charlize Theron (Young Adult)
Despite The Iron Lady largely being a disappointment, critics agree that Meryl Streep’s film-saving performance of Margaret Thatcher will surely solidify at least a nomination for the 62-year-old actress. Viola Davis seems a likely contender for tearjerker film adaptation The Help, with Michelle Williams possibly stealing the spotlight in the category after portraying (and becoming the spitting-image of) beloved 1950s actress and pop culture icon Marilyn Monroe. Upset nominations stand to come from newbie Rooney Mara as well as Charlize Theron for her archetype-bending role as the troubled down-but-not-out Mavis Gary.

Celebrity Pictures celebblogwall.blogspot.comDamien Hirst - The Richest Artist Alive Today
Don Copy From This Blog...
When most people think of artists, they think of Picasso or Michelangelo - classic artists, long gone and forever famous. However, art has never stopped being created, and one of today's most popular artists is Damien Hirst.
Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/5373024Celebrity Pictures celebblogwall.blogspot.com
Unlike the paintings of a bygone era, Damien's art is much more modern, consisting of textural and visual stimulation, risqué "sculptures," and a unique flair for understated drama that warps and bends the overactive imagination. Hirst is reported to be the richest artist alive, and is famously known for selling his entire show at a Sotheby's auction for an estimated $198 million (USD).
There's a continuous theme throughout Hirst's work, one that makes him an extremely controversial figure to purists and traditionalists, but also a risk-taking godsend to the enthusiasts of all things modern and taboo. Damien deals in death, simply put.
As a member of the Young British Artists, Hirst dominated the entire art scene throughout the 1990s. Many consider him to be an artful taxidermist, preserving dead animals-such as his famous sheep, cow and shark-that are dressed up and sometimes dissected. Hirst also has a series of paintings called "spin" and "spot" paintings.
The artist was born Damien Steven Hirst on June 7, 1965 in Bristol, England. Son to an auto mechanic and an authoritarian mother, Hirst rebelled and found art. However, he wasn't the accepted artist at first, and it took him more than one try to be accepted into the Leeds College of Art and Design.
In his early career, Hirst modeled his art after the work of Francis Davison, using various colors and texture and sizes of pictures to create collages. From 1986 to 1989, Hirst would attend the famed University of London where he studied Fine Art at Goldsmiths.
Hirst became the organizer of an independent student exhibition for Goldsmiths College. His own contribution to the show was well received, and after graduating college, he was included in the new Contemporaries show at Kettles Yard in Cambridge.
Hirst started creating art for his own solo exhibitions in 1991, and had shows at key locations throughout London. After forming the Young British Artists and receiving funding from Charles Saatchi in 1991, Hirst achieved his first big sale: 50,000 GBP for his work titled The Physical Impossibility of Death in the Mind of Someone Living. This piece would become the character of British art throughout the 1990s.
Hirst's star only continued to grow from that point. Like any artist, however, Hirst has experienced both the positive and the extreme, unrelentingly harsh negative. On a high point, he's been compared with Andy Warhol. On his lows, some claim Hirst is a hack, a glorified crypt keeper.
Some of Damien's most famous works include The Wrath of God, The Inescapable Truth, Saint Sebastian, The Hat Makes de Man, Breath, Hymn, Arachidic Acid, A Thousand Years, Away From the Flock, and The Sacred Heart of Jesus. In 2008, he hit the headlines around the world when for many, he created The Love of God - a human skull encrusted with diamonds, which sold for £50m.
Hirst is still creating art today. He is a recovering drug and alcohol addict, and lives with his girlfriend and three children.

Why People Love Celebrity Pictures
Don Copy From This Blog...
Many people can't seem to get enough of anything that has to do with celebrities' news, gossips, scandals, fashion, and lifestyle, just to name a few. All these are captured by celebrity pictures, whether celebrities like it or not. TV and movie stars have no way of escaping the prying eyes of the paparazzi. Every move celebrities make even in their private moments is always caught on camera. Photos of stars in their most glamorous or most unflattering looks grace the pages of various celebrity magazines and websites.

Celebrity photos have been popular especially during the World War II, when GIs pin up on barrack walls pictures of female movie stars wearing either one-piece swimsuits or low-cut evening gowns. According to historians, the fascination of Americans with celebrity photos started with the illustration "Gibson Girl" that landed on the pages of a magazine in 1887. Prior to the Internet boom, people were content seeing images of celebrities on magazines and movie posters. But nowadays, it's easy to access celebrity photos on the Internet. You can view and download photos of Hollywood stars in just a few minutes. Or you may download a Bollywood actress picture if you adore Indian actresses. All it takes is just a few clicks on celebrity websites that can provide hundreds of celebrity photos in various shapes and sizes.
People love to view celebrity photos, even to the point of being overly fascinated with the who's who in Tinseltown. Surfing the Web for Hollywood actress pictures has been a national pastime for men and women alike. Some people make hobbies out of celebrity photos by using them as desktop wallpapers. In particular, teenagers usually like posting photo printouts of their favorite actors, actresses, and musicians on the walls of their rooms.
Why are people so interested with celebrity pictures? Pictures of celebrities have entertained people across the globe as much as their acting, singing, and dancing prowess. Viewing a photo of your favorite star gives you an enjoyable distraction, helping you get through a busy, routine, and tiring day.
But compared to talents, pictures have a more visible and lasting effect. It's because pictures immortalize celebrities. Even after the death of immensely popular stars, their memories remain alive. Also, photos instantly elicit various reactions. How many times have you wondered why a certain actress always wears horrible gowns on the red carpet, or why a young star has suddenly become skinny or overweight? A celebrity's personal life, usually depicted on photos, bothers you even if you know too well that it's none of your business.
Although they appear like demigods on the screen, celebrities are "humanized" on photos. To some extent, celebrity photos give fans a glimpse of how certain superstars make a lapse in fashion, speech, or manners. To satisfy people's curiosity, photos also show the appearance of Hollywood stars when they're away from the limelight. For example, some Hollywood actress pictures show that certain celebrities can still look hot and attractive even without makeup. Photos of pregnant celebrity moms as well as celebrity hunks babysitting their children are just as popular. Thus, celebrity photos prove that actors and actresses despite their fame and glamour are humans just like everybody else.

Of Snakes and Celebrity Marriages
Don Copy From This Blog...
I recently read about the troublesome marriage of a football player whose celebrity wife was leaving him over persistent infidelity. It caused quite the brouhaha as these celebrity marriage problems inevitably do. I think we rely on the marriages of people in the public eye to be perfect because of the way they are idolised. Therefore, their marriages should fare better than those of mere mortals like us. It later emerged that the wife did not want to leave her husband but felt pressured to do so by the force of public opinion. Her only wish was to be the perfect wife and mother. Clearly she had drunk the Kool Aid of public opinion and assumed that the perfect 'anything' is even possible.
Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/6421655Celebrity Pictures celebblogwall.blogspot.com
Marriage is hard, or so I hear never having personally experienced that blissful state... It also requires two things; a secure woman, and a grown up man. In my view, many a marriage fails because it lacks these two factors. Insecurity in a woman, while also being the most unattractive vice ever, leads to a tendency to listen to others, when she should really be following her own council and listening to her own heart. The heart never lies. It always knows where you need to go. But insecurity leads to distrust; of others as well as yourself - and so you listen to whomever when they 'advice' you to do whatever, with no examination of what their motives could be. Exacerbate that by marrying a boy who has absolutely no interest in maturing into a man and what you have is a recipe for disaster.
Have you heard the story of the guy who found a frozen snake and brought it home to thaw at his hearth? When the snake was all toasty and warm it turned round and bit the man. And he, very hurt and puzzled asked the snake why he would do that after the man had practically saved his life! And the snake looks him straight in his dying eyes and tells him, "You knew I was a snake when you brought me home".
Well, this wife knows who her husband is, and still wants him. Her eyes are wide shut. If she wishes to bring the snake home, that is completely her business, it is called free will. At least her choice is informed, that's really all you can ask. The rest of us should therefore just butt out.
